Accurate Fence Measurement Guide for an Estimate

To help you get the most accurate estimate for your new fence, here are three methods you can use to measure the location of your proposed fence.

Option 1: Measuring Your Fence Location Using Google Maps

Google Maps is a versatile tool that can be used on any device to measure the distance for your proposed fence location. Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Open Google Maps: Go to Google Maps on your preferred device.
  2. Find Your Property: Enter your address in the search bar and locate your property on the map.
  3. Switch to Satellite View: Click on the “Layers” icon (stacked squares) on the bottom left and select “Satellite” to get a clearer view of your property.
  4. Right-Click to Measure: Right-click on the starting point of your proposed fence line and select “Measure distance” from the dropdown menu.
  5. Click Points Along the Fence Line: Continue clicking on each point along the path of your proposed fence. Google Maps will automatically calculate the total distance between the points.
  6. Review Your Measurement: The distance will be displayed at the bottom of the screen. Use this measurement to get an accurate estimate.

Option 2: Measuring Your Fence Distance on an iPhone

Every iPhone comes with the Measure app pre-installed from the factory, making it a convenient tool for measuring the dimensions of your proposed fence location. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the Measure App: Find and open the Measure app on your iPhone.
  2. Position Your iPhone: Point your iPhone at the starting point of the area you want to measure.
  3. Tap the Plus Button: Tap the “+” button to set the starting point.
  4. Move Your iPhone: Slowly move your iPhone along the path of your proposed fence.
  5. Set Additional Points: Tap the “+” button at each corner or change in direction of the fence line.
  6. Complete the Measurement: When you reach the end point, tap the “+” button again. The total distance will be displayed on the screen.

Option 3: Measuring Your Fence Distance Using Your Property’s Survey
